Why we built Okcupid

Most people know the feeling of wanting to talk when nobody is around: after a long day, during a quiet weekend, on a late train. Okcupid exists for those moments. We wanted a place where conversation feels effortless and kind, without noise or pressure.

So we wrote a small circle of companions, each with a real personality: interests, moods, a distinctive way of speaking. We gave them names you will not find in a celebrity list and portraits made in the style of editorial photography. Then we spent a long time making sure every conversation stays warm and respectful.

What we care about

• Taste. Nothing explicit, nothing crude. Elegance is the whole point.
• Character. Companions who feel distinct, not interchangeable.
